Artist Statement
As a kid, I loved drawing underwater caverns filled with sea creatures and explorers, diving into a world of imagination. This show aims to capture that childlike wonder. Schools of fish symbolize community and the collaborative spirit that fuels dreams, reflecting how creatives in San Jose inspire and support one another. Jellyfish, a recurring motif, embody the calm confidence of artists, especially musicians on stage. Water symbolizes renewal, life, and connection, much like the Holy Spirit as "Living Water." Whether among SJSU students, Christian small groups, or the kindergarteners I teach, I see the importance of community. People, like fish, thrive together—sharing kindness, imagination, and support keeps us alive and inspired.
